Ce Ce, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Ah resilience, it’s an essential characteristic and also a practice! My mother always emphasized “stick to it-ness” when I was a kid, and she meant that one needs to “stick to it” in order to see results. This discussion came up when I was doing dance as a kid, and faced challenges with learning techniques and routines. Also this came up with studying for exams and writing college essays. So early memories of developing this quality laid the ground for this in my professional and entrepreneurial career. When faced with uncertainly, I make lists of previous challenges I overcame in the past. And the helps me remember how much power I have to “stick to it”, and what rewards have results because of this.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

1. START: Just start! Try putting your product or service “out there” and learn from the reaction.
2. RUN: Learn from your sales- why did they purchase, what appealed to them and how can you replicate that?
3. GROW: invest in what can generate more revenue, be it products or systems. Keep your brain fresh to find new opportunists, and delegate or outsource tasks that take you away from that mindset.

The French word “babouche” describes a flat Moroccan slipper so soft that you can flatten part that would cover your heel, and wear it under your feet.  Deeper research reveals the word is Persian in origin, from “Papush”, Persian پاپوش‎  with the “pa” referring to “foot”.  

Hi Ce Ce, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
I don’t believe one needs to write a business plan in the traditional sense. Unless someone, an investor perhaps, has asked for one. And even the most important thing to know is the break even number, when your business will break even against the initial investment, and how many sales, or how much revenue is needed to break even.  Read more here.
